Home Letter 10/22/12

Dear Families,

I hope that this finds you all well! Finally, this week is a five day week! Friday will be slightly out of the ordinary: if all goes well, we’ll earn our last marbles in the next day or two and have a marble celebration Friday. Stay tuned for more information as exciting plans develop!

We’re going to be doing something a little differently regarding homework and reading: every student will have at least one personal reading book that travels to and from school every day. This allows me to keep an eye on what students are reading (choosing texts that are neither too easy nor too challenging). Traveling to and from school with a book also ensures that every student will have something they’re interested in reading with them at all times.

Students, this week for homework:
1)    Find and USE the plastic homework “folder” that I gave you at the beginning of the school year. Students, please keep your personal reading book safe in your plastic homework folder. Your folder and your book must travel TO and FROM school with you EVERYDAY.

2)   Read! Everyday!

3)    Think and Write About What You Read J

4)    Math Practice Pages (we’ll practice fact families in class – pay attention!)

5)    Read through the list of Book Bins (from the class room) and circle 5 bins where you think you might find books you would like.

Looking forward to a great week together!
